Hell's Revenge - Utah Offroad Trail - Trails Offroad Sand Flats offers two reservable group campsites. The slickrock moniker dates back to when horse-drawn wagons would try to cross the seemingly easily traversed undulating sandstone. For being the biggest day of Easter Jeep Safari it was surprisingly quiet on the trail. This optional obstacle has several names, including Devil's Highway, The Big Hot Tub, and Devil's Hot Tub. site is used. It looks like they are building a resort where you used to exit. The climbs up and down the many fins were exhilarating, blowing through the sandy patches was fun, and the views of the surrounding area, including the Colorado River, were fantastic. And that was with a 3 inch lift and 47s on a JL. However, Sand Flats Recreation Area has 120 campsites in 9 campgrounds marked with the letters (A-J) to represent the names Alcove, Bobcat, Cottontail, Datura, Echo, Fox, Globemallow, Hawk, and Juniper.
They paved the first section from the parking lot to the fin, and closed off the steeper optional section to the left as you approach the fin. Looking forward to doing it again sometime. Once you get started on this trail, it's easy to see why it's rated 8. It is an offshoot that you go down and then return to the Hells Revenge Loop. However its just that good of a trail that I have to give it 5 stars. The trail flattens out and begins crossing a sandy section as the bypass route reconnects from the east.
